Like most people we have had previous jobs with other interests—I was a pastry chef among other jobs, and Keith designed and built furniture—but in 1996 we decided to work together and open Hannah's. Our goal was and is providing Central California and beyond with quality furniture, lighting and accessories with exceptional service.
Over the past 14 years we have seen many changes in business and as consumers we have changed what we buy and how we buy. It is now a time, more than ever, to think about the products we purchase; the cars we drive, the food we eat and the houses we live in.
We believe the quality of life is influenced by one's surroundings. At Hannah's we sell products that are beautiful, sustainable and renewable. A few examples are—most of our furniture comes from FSC Certified Forests, the cushions in our upholstery are produced using soy based foam, lessening the impact of global warming. Simply Amish even blanket wraps all of their products, so as not to use traditional packaging materials. We carry products from developing nations; the money made from Toka Wedding Baskets, has helped build a library in Zambia. These are just a few things that lead to a win-win for everyone.
Hannah's Home Furnishings is not only our business, it is our passion! This is what we love! As I mentioned earlier, we have seen many changes. The things that don't change are the new customers and friends being made daily. Previous customers (and even some of their children) return years later and remind us of their purchases and we love that.
Some people have told us you cannot have the same kind of relationship selling online as you can when customers come into your store. You Can! The online customer is not just a shopping cart and a credit card. And just like our store in Capitola, years later our online customers and friends are checking in, sending an email or giving a call to make another purchase.
