Rocky Mountain Miniatures opened it's doors in July 2003 as Mountain Miniatures in a space of 400 square feet, at 506 Fifth Street in Georgetown, CO. Quickly outgrowing the space, the owners, Chris and Jeannette Peterson, bought the Georgetown Mercantile and the accompanying building in September 2004. The miniatures merged with the gift ware and attracted a whole new group of people. Those who would not ordinarily venture into a miniatures store, now wander in, see all the fun, small things, and enjoy exploring that side of the store. We have 15,000 items in the store, one of the largest miniature stores in the Rocky Mountains!

Jeannette has always been interested in miniatures, but only decided to go into it full time after raising the children and moving to this quaint Victorian mountain town. She has been involved in restoring old dollhouses, teaching classes, helping customers with special projects, working with children, and sharing people's enthusiasm about miniatures.

In March 2010 Jeannette and Chris decided to phase out the gift ware and put in a Victorian Tea Room. This seemed to fit into the historic Victorian town and gave people a place to gather and enjoy each other in a Victorian setting. To help make the "Georgetown Tea Experience" different from any other tea room you may visit, there are "historic" foods, the building was built in 1875, and with any High Tea you will leave with a commemorative photo of your group printed in sepia tones and nicely presented in a photo folder - old fashioned style.

The Tea Room boasts all food made on site - from the traditional tea items like madelines, the historic foods (black walnut cookies and deviled eggs), to the soups and breads. (Only one item is not made in our kitchen, and this is a white chocolate cameo medallion which we buy from the local chocolate store, the Georgetown Candy Factory.)
