An upscale consignment boutique in Wheaton, IL, The Perfect Thing, Inc. was the obvious next step for Judith Martin after many years as a Certified Appraiser and Owner (along with mother, Gloria) of M&M Estate Sales. Beginning in October 2003, Judith decided it was time to apply her expertise in the selling of large estates to selling individual items as well. Her vision was a “small” store front to showcase extraordinary items she was able to cherry pick from smaller estates. In November 2003, Judith opened the doors to her 8,000 square foot showroom and began her new direction of offering quality, high-end items to the general public at affordable prices. In early 2004, Kate Martin came aboard to assist Judith with her undertaking and is now the managing partner for The Perfect Thing, Inc.. In 2007, Judith’s appraisal business and the estate sales company came under the same umbrella as the shop. Whether you are looking for the perfect piece of furniture, want to accessorize your home, need to liquidate an entire estate or sell a single item, or need your property evaluated and valued, The Perfect Thing, Inc. is the perfect place. It is truly a family-run business through generations.

IN THE BEGINNING

In 1989, Judith Martin joined her mother, Gloria Moroni and formed M & M Sales Estate Liquidations. Gloria and Judith conducted their first sale together in March of 1989. Gloria has since retired from the store.
After partnering with her in the estate sales, Judith soon joined Gloria in the personal property appraisal business. In 1994, Judith attended formal classes in appraisal practice, theory and methodology through the International Society of Appraisers. She was awarded her Certification in 1997 and continued on to teach the exact classes she had taken for the ISA. In 2008, she was voted onto the ISA Board of Directors and is the past President of the International Society of Appraisers Board of Directors. Kate has followed suit, earning her appraisal accreditation with the International Society of Appraisers in 2011. All three ladies are generalist appraisers, and Judith has taken Kate on as partner not only at the shop but in the estate sales and appraisal business as well. Gloria has since retired from the estate sales business but is still conducting personal property appraisals.

Most of our current inventory is pictured and listed online for your viewing pleasure. The Perfect Thing receives new consignments on a daily basis, so our inventory is ever changing!
