The do more than vacuuming but the simple vacuuming you do also goes a long way in producing good results for your carpet.

Many homeowners take for granted the need to have your carpet cleaned by a specialist from a carpet cleaning company alike once in a year. The professionals are able to do more than making your carpet look better but also making them last longer and improve the air quality of your home preventing many breathing problems like asthma.

The quality of the work a carpet cleaning company does is dependent on you too. It all begins with communication. If you are able to communicate well with the professionals and you state your expectations on the services they will explain and state what they can and can’t do. Begin by having a written contract of the work that he will do. This way it will act as a warranty when you need them to redo the work if it was not done well.

PREPARATIONS TO MAKE

The cleaners tend to work as they move backwards hence removing raised or any hanging that may be in their way is a wise move. Make sure you remove any variables or fragile and bristle items that may break if bumped on. The cleaners may help you move the items but not with the care that you would have desire and this is why it is generally better to do it yourself.

The cleaners may also vacuum your carpet before they work for free but it does not hurt to do so yourself. Any draperies that may be touching the floor or are close to the floor should be tied and suspended on a high place to prevent them from being an obstacle as you work.

COMMUNICATION WITH THE PROFESSIONALS

If there is a particular method of cleaning you desire you should state it to the company so that they can consider it and put their input and expertise before the scheduled appointment. Treat the cleaners as professionals as they know what they are doing with regards to removing your stains and cleaning.

Specify to the company what add on you want and don’t want in terms of carpet protector or deodorizers so they can come prepared before the scheduled day. If your carpet has been previously cleaned explain how it was cleaned to the cleaners so that they may know what to use and what not to use.

Any stains that you know of should be pointed out prior the cleaning date so that the professionals know what to use and carry to remove these stains. If any extra costs are to be incurred due to the stains it should be stated well in the cleaning contract. Get the total cost of the job before the work begins.

AFTER THE JOB

Inspect the job and check for any spots, residue and stains that may be left behind after the job. Point out to them these irregularities. Do not step on the damp carpet as this may cause even more soiling and staining. Do not pay unless you are satisfied with the job they have done.

Have specific instructions e.g. when the carpet will dry so that you may know when to start stepping on the carpet without socks. Opening windows speeds up drying. Do not place things on the carpet as this slows down drying.

Have shields under the furniture legs as some wood may cause staining on the carpet when the carpet is still dump. Make sure you vacuum the carpet as soon as it dries and keep this up on a regular basis. Make sure you immediately call the company in case you see any irregularities before the carpet dries.

Diligently maintain your carpet to avoid soiling, airborne diseases and unpleasant stains. Frequent vacuuming prevents soiling from settling at the bottom of your carpet. Whenever any dirt appears it is advisable to vacuum it immediately.

Although it is cost saving to do the cleaning yourself instead of employing a carpet cleaning company it is important to know that you cannot clean to the level the professional can hence once a year will be efficient. Working with them will even be more efficient.
