Plexi-Craft fabricates furniture, fixtures, displays, and other items out of acrylic (tradenames Lucite®, Plexiglas®, et al). Our showroom and factory are co-located in Queens (Long Island City). Plexi-Craft has been in business for over 50 years.
You will be responsible for the production and fabrication of acrylic furniture, fixtures, displays, and components. Responsibilities include:
• Cutting: fabricating component pieces out of sheet and stock material using table saw, band saw, router, drill press.
• Assembly: gluing and fastening of components.
• Material finishing: sanding, scraping and polishing component pieces.
• Bending: prepping material properly to heat and bend with strip heaters.
Qualifications:
• Experience making fine furniture, millwork, and cabinetry.
• Experience with stationary and hand-held power equipment, including drills, table saws, and routers.
• Ability to read technical drawings and fabricate items from drawings.
• Ability to perform arithmetic operations on measurements and fractions, down to 1/16” increments.
• Demonstrated diligent work ethic and ability to listen to instructions and then execute assignments independently.
• Experience with lathes, CNC machines, and jig-building a plus.
• Must be able to understand, speak, read and write English.
