Since 2004, Vivavi has been a leader in delivering modern design, green furniture and furnishings to the residential and commercial marketplace. In that time, we've managed showrooms in New York City in both Manhattan and Brooklyn.
In 2009 we relocated our operations to Asheville, North Carolina near the center of
America's storied furniture heritage. At this time we are not operating any showrooms.
We are also in the process of updating our inventory and evaluating how to best serve
our customers as we move into the next phase of our business operations. During this
transition we are currently not accepting orders and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Vivavi was founded in 2003 to meld modern design with environmental principles and demonstrate the possibilities for enjoying exceptional lifestyles in balance with nature. Vivavi specializes in contemporary green furniture and furnishings. Our website features the work of many of today’s leading sustainable designers based in the U.S. and Canada and has led Inc. Magazine to name Vivavi one of the top 50 businesses driving today's green revolution.

Vivavi’s founder and CEO, Josh Dorfman (http://www.lazyenvironmentalist.com/about/), is also known as The Lazy Environmentalist (http://www.lazyenvironmentalist.com/), having authored two books on green living and created a green national radio show on Sirius Satellite Radio. His philosophy of making green living easy, attractive and enjoyable has been adapted for television; he is currently executive producer and host of The Lazy Environmentalist television series on Sundance Channel (http://www.sundancechannel.com/lazy).
Vivavi was Josh’s initial venture to help shift the way Americans think about green living and rebrand environmentalism in a 21st century context as choices that are desirable and tangibly improve our quality of life. Vivavi does not simply showcases furniture and furnishings that are more environmentally responsible than standard choices but rather features some of the best contemporary designs available overall in the marketplace today.
For Vivavi, green has very little to do with sacrifice and everything to do with exceptional design and healthy, non-toxic products that enhance our well-being. Vivavi's philosophy holds that green products are first and foremost products that are made of environmentally sound materials – be they FSC certified wood, recycled materials, bamboo (sourced from responsible companies like Plyboo), responsible composite materials like Kirei board, and natural fabrics such as organic cotton, wool, and linen. We also search for products that are treated with non-toxic finishes.
It is Josh’s fundamental belief that green living holds the potential to be better living. Not all green choices are created equal. Some eco-friendly choices are obviously inferior in terms of quality and design. Some, however, are extraordinary. Vivavi strives to operate at the nexus of green and extraordinary and make those choices available to you.
The Lazy Environmentalist extends Vivavi's logic to nearly every aspect of our lives. In addition to writing books and filming his television show, Josh is also a frequent green keynote speaker (http://www.lazyenvironmentalist.com/speaking/) presenting his message of innovation based environmentalism to a wide range of audience. In May of 2010, Josh added a green business consulting (http://www.lazyenvironmentalist.com/consulting/) arm to his ventures to help companies and policymakers take good green ideas and craft outstanding communication strategies around them.
